Burcinella Sauvignon and Reasling

The “Il Burcinella” white wine, the name of which derives from the area in which the vines grow and the company, is made from an innovative Manzoni 6-0-13 vine, a cross between Sauvignon and single vine Rhine Riesling grown on a Wild American stalk, characteristics which make it unique among its sort; it is not easy to cultivate grapes from the north-east in the Valdichiana.

The bunches of grapes are small and compact, mature in early September and about 900 kg are produced per hectare. The entire vine covers about 4 hectares and production is deliberately limited to 10,000 bottles per year.

The harvest involves all the family, obtaining wine through soft pressing; fermentation is at a controlled temperature ranging from 22 to 24 degrees, and the alcohol content is 12% by volume.

The wine must obtained from the wine making process is left on its “own sediment” until late February, when “Il Burcinella” is ready for drinking. It is straw coloured tending slightly towards green, and the original must is a beautiful full emerald green colour, with a marked taste and good synergy with the perfumes, which combine without superimposing each other (flowers, brimstone and geranium).
The wine should be drunk at a temperature of between 11 and 13°C.
